radio delete

Post by fourforty6pac » Wed Apr 30, 2008 4:03 pm

I bought an nos radio delete rallye gauge bezel for a future project. I couldn't pass it up. In radio delete cars did they use the same speaker/vent cover as in radio equipped cars?

Yep, radio delete cars have the same speaker/vent cover as radio cars. My radio-delete Runner even has the factory speaker mounted in the top of the dash... go figure.

You picked up a pretty rare piece. Was it actually for a '71 or the later model with the headlight indicator light next to the light switch?

I thought only 74's had the pictures. None of my 72's or 73's ever had those symbols.

I bought one of those to,I did not see the small pics of the lights on the bezel.I will have to put it back on ebay.

Just wanted to add also,I bought 2 rally gauges on ebay and both got broken during shipping,so be aware that they are fragile when purchasing
them.

That's weird about the speaker,I'll have to remember to do some checking into that for reference.
It's a 71 or 72, it only has the worded semi circular cut out above the switches. I got a line on a totally bare bones 71 with a 383 and 3 speed. I was told it was a radio delete car, the cluster is missing but it still had the antennae delete. I am hoping to get some proof of this car. I also was told it is a stationary rear side window car. It has a rubber matting left under the seats, so my buddy thinks it even came without carpeting. It,'s missing the standard hood the shifter the cluster and the air cleaner. I guess it's been in a shed in AL. for the last 15 years. The only thing my buddy is a chevy guy so he couldnt say for sure if it was a runner or a charger. So I'm not going to get my hopes up.

Interesting. Man, I hope you can get some pics! Although SOME of it's equipment will be on the fender tag, the broadcast sheet will be the place to get real info on how the car was equipped. Hopefully you'll find one still in the car. Good luck on getting it!

I assume this is a Satellite (not a road runner)? I'm not aware of the fixed window being available on runners in 71 or 72. You wouldn't know from the VIN on a 71, as they didn't use the RL21 VIN that year, but the fixed window was part of a package that included the rubber floor covering. I'd have to look to be sure, but I believe the code for it is A93. This would show on the fender tag from most build plants (some Winsor cars could be the exception).
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!Image

Windsor cars always seem to be the exception... weird things happen when you cross that canadian border.... :P

Not to thread jack, but even coworkers have said "nice Charger!" when driving my '73 to work! Back in the day when I had a '70 Super Bee (I was cooler than Billy the Kid), I used to get "nice GTO!"

End of thread jacking...
