Few weeks ago old tank started to drip.

Had new tank, sending unit and elect feul pump stashed away so I put them in.

Old sending unit was 1/4: new unit 3/8.
No return on old sending unit; new one had what appears to be 1/4 in return tube.

Old gas tank has 4 vent tubes, all blocked off. New tank had 4 vent tube also.

What should I do?

The fuel line is 1/4. So I have 3/8 out the tank to the pump and 1/4 out the pump to the carb. I do not see a problem here. Correct me if I'm wrong. I will replace the 1/4 line with 3/8 someday. When I do can I use the old 1/4 as my return to the sending unit stub?

As far as the sending unit return tube. Should I block it off or what.

What about the 4 vent tubes on the drivers side? Since the old ones where blocked off I have no reference for this.

Never did a gas tank before, it's all new for me and this old car has be butchered in everyway poss.

there 2lines they are 5/16 one is the gas line its go the gas tank other line is on top your innner fenner on the pass side it go to a vapour cannister that's in your wheelwell. The four hoses go there too. On a 440 car there's three lines. The fuel line is 3/8ths, the return line is 1/4 and the other line is 5/16 the same as above.

What vapor cannister? Like I said this car has been butchered.
The sending unit is 3/8. I checked my invoice and the hose.
The pump to carb is 1/4 checked that too.

On a 71’ you should have a vapor/liquid separator located in the left rear wheel well, aft of the wheel. The four tank vent lines, exiting the drivers side of the tank, will connect to it. Mid year 72’ the separator system was redesigned and relocated to the front of the fuel tank, above the rear axle. A fifth nipple on the separator will connect to a steel line (believe it to be 5/16”) running up to the engine compartment along the passenger side with the fuel feed. On a 71’, this tank vent line should connect to the crank case breather cap; the correct cap will have an additional nipple for this purpose. On a 72’ and up it would connect to the charcoal canister. 72’ was the first year for the charcoal canister. Either way that vent line/lines should not be plugged off, run the risk of collapsing the tank. As for the fuel feed, anything short of 440s and hemi’s(in 71’) would have had one 5/16” steel line running from the tank to the pump. 440/hemi cars would have a 3/8” fuel feed with a ¼” return line that connected to a three nipple fuel vapor separator, mounted near the fuel pump, and would run back to the sender. You will need to adapt the 3/8” sender nipple to what fuel line size you have and plug off the ¼” nipple at the sender if you have no return line.

hmm...when i replaced mine, i just put the hoses back on the same way they came off...and mine's been hacked on and far from stock as well

Nope, all gone, no vapor canister in engine bay or vent canister in wheel well.
Never mind. I'll figure out something else. . Time for a trip to Fine Lines for a new tank to engine fuel line.

Got a pic of the sending unit/ground strap area? I took mine off and the angle seems to be all wrong. I must've bent my original fuel lines when I dropped the tank or something because the hose and strap aren't long enough now. Is the fuel line that connects to the gas tank sending unit supposed to be angled towards the ground?

Missing the charcoal canister-(all front fuel lines) has anyone replaced this with a newer compatable version-
(Cheaper than NOS - its a killer)
