How rare are these on 71 Satellites? Bearing in mind mine is an RH23 Sebring and to my knowledge the only major options on it were the A01 Light Package, G33 Remote (L) Mirror / Chrome Racing...

Good question. I was thinking the same thing when I saw your car. Is it stock, or did someone trim the valence?

I assume it's stock, or someone went to a LOT of trouble, because the edges are rounded off/smoothed. It's possible that it's off another car and was later repainted, I suppose.

Well, according to all factory literature I've seen, the brite exhaust tips (and the related cutout valance) were only available on road runner and GTX for 71.

So then we can assume the valance was added... Not impossible, given the previous owner's predilection for other 70's B Bodies (he has a '72 SSP and a '71 GTX).

My 72 SSp has the ones that aren't so deep. I assume that is correct with dual exhaust but no tips........right?

Well without taking mine off, here's another pic. I'm pretty sure they're factory tip cutouts. They have a shaped concave recessed area where the metal is shaped as it gets toward the actual cutout (which has a beveled smooth edge).

can the exhaust tips be used with a rear valance that has the small cutouts? Or, can you only run pipes out? I am sure they can bend the pipe where you can use tips with the smaller cutout........I would think.Matter of fact, I think the 71's used a different(larger) tip than a 72. That would explain the differences in the two tips and the two valences.I just thought of that. I am sure Eric or Bruce knows.

I would think that 2nd tip would work if the exhaust pipe was lowered a grunt to clear the valence..............the valence with the shallow cut out
