Ok when I got my drivers fender off I noticed that the lip that the splash shields screws into is rotted and if removed will it make my fender rattle since I'm assuming it pushed up against it? Need some advice because I really don't want to have rebuild that lip just for a splash shield I can remount another way.

Mine has not had inner fender splash shields since I've owned it. IT does not rattle because the splash shields are out.
My lip is intact. Do you want to sell you splash shields?
I've seen lots of cars without the splash shields. Since I dont drive in the rain I don't even worry about it. They are pretty low on my priority list. I have soo many other things to work out on this car. LOL
I reread you post and I guess I did not answer any questions.
I need to finish my first cup of coffee.
I just looked at my car to clarify for myself.
I still don't think you will have any rattle because the lip is toast.
Good luck.

original purpose of the plastic shields was to keep water and dirt/dust out of the door jamb area. Guess you have to decide if that's a concern or not.

Well you see I'm planning on just completly cutting of that lip that would hold up the splash shield. So there wouldn't be no lip anymore on my car and I didn't if it would rattle or not without that whole metal lip.

Not sure any of us can answer that question, as it seems none of us have done that.
Just my 0.02, with a car that rare, I'd not cut corners like this in the restoration...
