Road Runner Nest

Hey guys. I recieved my new air grabber from PG Classics. The very corner is broken off. It is only about teh size of your thumb nail. There appears to be three layers. The outer tw layers are borken but the inner part looks like a tongue and is still there. It appears to be fiberglass resin. I called immediately and they told me to send it back but would ahve to pay shipping and be reembursed. They would send it back and repair or replace it.I HATE HATE HATE the whole hassle of returning stuff. I am thinking of using bondo to fix it myself. It is pretty small. Too small to use cloth.I was thinking tht since the tongue was there, that it would serve as support for the bondo on the top and bottomsides. Any suggestions?

Were the originals fiberglassed?(sorry if its a must know thing)

If you think you can fix,I would try,but then if you temper with it,and find out you cant fix it,it might be to late to return it,or they might not get you a refund since you messed with it.
I guess it all depends on who's running the business.

I would use fiberglass resin or epoxy to fix it if it is only a thumbnail size. Bondo would probably do the job though.

not exactly answering your question, but I'd send it back and make them fix it....why should you spend time and money fixing someone else's mistake?

Send it back. You mess up the repair They probably won't be willing to fix it or replace it. You spent good money on it you might as well get your money's worth.

Was it damaged in shipping? If not fix it like luvmopars said. I would just epoxy it, sand, fill and paint. They are not the fastest shippers, especially on returns.
If they are responsible for the damage they should send you a shipping label, theres no reason for you to pay in advance and hope to get reimbursed. Good Luck!

Sending me a shipping label is the proper route that I thought should be taken. It is also the main reason that I am considering fixing it. I don't think I should have to pay 100 bucks to ship back and take their word that they will py me back. Their english isn't well at all. I am also concerned that they might get mixed up in the process and I will never get an air grabber. Then, I am the one that is put on the defensive to prove that I never recieved but only a damaged one. I will get a few pics on tonight and let you guys see. I agree, I paid good money for it and should not have to fix it. However, if you weigh the two possible outcomes, which is the worser of the two?Please don't hesitate to give feedback here guys.

By right they should send you a pre orderd shipping box to your house for you to ship it back to them in.if they dont thats not really professional of them.

Wow that sucks! I ordered parts from them and even thou nothing was damaged it took a month and a half to get my parts,They say they are from canada but their parts came in a chinese box with all kind of Chinese stamps all over the box.Thats the only thing I like about ebag! if its damaged I would send it back and get my money back from paypal if they dont return it or replace it.

Sounds like an easy fix for one evening.I would not use bondo,i would use something like Duraglass it will hold up a lot better.

Here is a pic. The bottomside is almost identical in size as this top portion.Dangit............pick is too big.......gotta learn how to make it smaller...............always something

Here's the pic. Just me, but I'd use some epoxy to seal the fibers of the glass, let that dry and use bondo as filler to smooth it out and repaint it. I AGREE in principal with the guys who say send it back because the damage was NOT your fault. But you've got a place in line to get your car's painting done and don't want to lose that... I can understand that and for ME at least, that would overrule holding the vendor's feet to the fire over such a SMALL and insignificant repair.

Thanks Bruce for posting that. Now, when you guys say Epoxy,you don't mean spray it with epoxy primer, right? I have some of that left but am certain that is not what you are talking about. Is it in a tube or what? I also have some ultralite or something like that bondo left over.Personally, I don't think it needs fiberglass..........but what do I know. You guys tell me what to do here.
