Need rocker panel trim clips - anyone know a source?

Post by JimF » Wed Dec 12, 2007 8:24 pm

I have a 1971 Satellite and it's about 99.9% restored. The last thing it needs is for me to attach the rocker panel chrome trim (the thin 6' strips), but I can't seem to find the plastic clips that allow the trim piece to attach to the small metal tabs in the body.

I've attached a picture of the car and the metal tabs just over the rocker panel. Has anyone had any luck in finding these pieces?

Thanks.

Update:

I've contacted Mr. G's but they just have clips and fasteners and no idea at all what year or model car they are used for.

If anyone here has a sample clip/fastener for these rocker panel moldings I'd be very very appreciative. Any pictures or even a description?

Anyone? Anyone?

Here is a pic....very blurry but best I can do.

Image

I'll have you know, I went out and yanked it off.....I figure its gotta come off when I replace fenders anyway.

it has W.F. on it and right under the wf is 12

Thats the only writing on it.

In the avueco catalog...on their main page, the clip there looks close.

http://www.auveco.com/product/auto.html

Also, page 400 item 12594 looks close

page 457 item 11354 may work, have to get sizes

this clip is 9/16" wide measured by the tips of the 4 little wings (you can only see 3 in my shitty picture because one was bent.

the main body of the clip is 3/8" wide

end to end measures 1 inch exactly

the hole that would actually hold clip on to peg is dead center, with the slide on hole off-set to one side horizontally.

There is a notch in each end measured 1/16" X 3/16"

luvmoparz,

One more question:

Did your car have the thick side moulding or the thin? The picture of the green car in your autosig shows the thicker moulding, which is different than mine.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'm looking at Mr. G's for something close.
