need your opinion

I am ready to add a tachometer for my 4 spd, since they are so many out there which one do you guys think will look good in my car, and also where should I place it, on my steering colum or untherneith the radio?

I like the factory tach, even if they are not the most accurate. Nice and clean.

Factory tach, you mean changing the whole council? I would love that but does that mean that i would have to get a different council? isnt that expensive? even if i find one in good condition? let me tell you, i would love to have a factory Tach, if I find one around 100 bucks I would change it but I don't know if they go for that kind of money..... I love clean lines if I have to get it i will!.....NEED MORE FEED BACK ( that means all u 71 & 72 RR and GTX fans outhere)....S T E V E .....

Don't forget, you can use this kit

Conversion Kit

to make your factory unit quite a bit more accurate.

I too am buying a tach for my '73 RR because it's a 4-speed.

Not trying to hi-jack this thread, but just FYI:

Although mine was originally rallye cluster, I had to find another cluster that originally had a clock (since I couldn't find one that had a tach), since the other gauges are 2-into-1 on these. In addition, the lens has a hole in it to accommodate a dial to adjust the time, so I had to use my original lens. I've also seen some cars with 150 speedos (mine) and also 120 (the one I bought on E-bay). Seems like there were so many differences with the '71-'74 rallye clusters!

TRUE, if i were to buy an original tach for my gtx I would have to change the other two, voltage and temp, at the end i would have to by 3 readers for my car, is it worth it?....NOT, so i will stick to a simple RPM tach THANK U...

The tach cluster used the same lenses as the clock did. The little hole for the clock adjustment got a small clear plug installed.

You're kidding me. Learning something new everyday. That's what mine seems to be: a small plug which I presumed once had some sort of clock knob through it, but it's more like a plug. It must have originally had a tach then. I just presumed it was a clock, but yeah, it just has a tiny plug in it. Why didn't they just use the same lens as on the fuel/oil pressure gauge (or whatever it is on the no-tach or no-clock option) since that's a solid piece. Ah well. Now do I need to get anal and make it "correct"? haha...

Harms Auto has the tachs for $185. I dont know how they look.
