Satellite Sebring Plus Paint schemes

Post by 71383bee » Wed Feb 18, 2004 2:47 pm

Hi there I am new to the web and I am interested in using an SSP paint scheme on my FE5 Satellite Sebring. Is ther a website available or possibe an old dealer brochure? What color(s) was painted on the bottom and where did they stop on the body lines? Did they come with chrome trim?

Hey 71383bee .....I live in Racine and work in Milwaukee.
Look for me and my 72' RR at a local show and say hi.

For 1972 SSP's they all had lower argent silver paint (though you could option delete it and have body color paint). The silver paint was below the body style line and a chrome trim band followed that line too ....this was only available on Satellite Sebring Plus. Satellires, Satellites Sebrings and Road Runners had no chrome trim following the body style line.
There is a picture of a red SSP on the (image gallery, 1972, Satellite, page 3)
Let me look at my 1972 Info ....I thought you could also order paint other than argent silver below the molding on SSP. I remember that a few 1972 RR's show up on the production numbers with having a two tone paint option too ....I have no idea as to why either?

1972RM23,

Hey there, I will keep an aye out for you this season. Did you go to the Mopar show ac Bouchor Dodge in Racine last year? My satellite actually took 3rd place for 71-74 B Body stock. Not bad for a vanilla satellite with some dents and dings.

Thanks for the info on the Plus paint jobs. I saw that red one in the archive and wondered if they painted in other color combinations. I really like the looks of the argent/red/white on my car. For now it is just a daily bruiser, but eventually I'll sink some money into the body. So it is the same argent that they used on all of their grills, etc? Just curious...

I actually never make the Racine show (and it's only a few miles from my house too?!). I have been going to the Michigan Nascar race the weekend for 18 years in a row now. I remember when I owned my 70' Supper Bee in the 80's that the August show was always at the Schwabenhof ....I have great memories of those early 80's shows. Bought my 70' Suber Bee in 1982 ...I had a blast driving around Marshall H.S. my senior year in 1982. Wish I had a time machine ....Mopars were cheap back then!
Anyway ....I have gone to the Spring show in Oconomowoc and the Summer shows at Great Lake Dragway and Belivdere Ill (took second place there last year for 1971-1974 Plymouth B-Body). Did you here Iola this year is going to have Plymouth's as the featured car ....I usually go to Iola every year but this year I might have to take the Road Runner! Also there's a fall show at Root River lanes I go to.

Let me look through my stuff and I'll let you know more about the lower paint thing.
Did you know any 2 door Satellite, Sebring or SSP could have ordered the V21 & V25 Hood deck stripes. That might look nice on your red Satellite!

Steve,

Yeah I was at both swap meets last year. The Union Grove Show is nice. The Racine show was a good crowd. I would say around 60 cars were there.

That is cool about iola, I have never been a huge fan of it, it is always too GM centric if you ask me.

That would be great if you can give me any info about the Satellite. 8)

Nice car, great shot. That would be fun to cruise around with on Halloween night. Imagine a shot of the car amongst the fall leaves. Could you find it again? :D

71383bee...posting pictures here is just like I have to do on Moparts. You have to use an outside web server to link your photos. I use Photoisland.com it's free, just sign up. Upload your photos to their server and then you open your pictures and in the menu is a "link to auction" button that you cut and paste into your reply with a Image at the end .....now isn't that easy?! Well after you have done it a few times it's not too difficult.
