What would be the correct color of the bottom (silver) portion of the grille. Is it gray, silver, argent of something else. And I'm pretty sure it is not textured. Can anyone confirm that.
Thanks

On an original grill, the black part is not painted, it's black plastic. If you paint the black area I'd use something with at least some gloss to mimic bare plastic, I have a NOS center section and the black area has a pretty good gloss to it, the silver is a fairly light argent (not textured). In comparison, my original grill is much darker. Seems they must have discolored quite a bit with exposure to the elements.
Hope this helps

Grin on my Grill
I just refinished a 71 grill...I used Krylon Fusion paint "METALLIC NICKEL SHIMMER" for the argent??
I have a virtually nos grill center (like eric) and the color was "SO CLOSE"
Also I used the satin black fusion paint for the rest of the grille...not too
shiny not too flat....it looked great I must say.
try it...you'll like it....scott
(Fusion is specially made to stick to plastics)(the satin black is great for
"hard" plastic interior parts)
