There is no overflow or "burp can" on a 1972, at least not one with a 440, A/T, and a/c, 26" radiator.
According to my parts manual, the "core stamped number" is 3574612 and 3574611 (have no idea why two numbers are listed) The "service part number" is 3574611.
FWIW I have heard the motor home 26 inch radiator is a four tube vice three for a car and it cools better, especially with a 440 and a/c. This will be my first summer for the car and if I do have any overheating problems I'll probably try and find one. I am told they fit nicely with no problem, even with the stock fan and thermal clutch.
One trick I learned the hard way. When you fill the system stop when the coolant is 1 1/2 inches below the top of the tank. If you put more in, the first time you shut it off the excess will run out on the floor! Remember it has no "burp can". There is a rubber hose which goes across the top of the radiator and down the drivers side. Comes out through a hole in the lower valance. FWIW took mine about three or four “burps†before it quit making a mess on my garage floor! But then I had it filled right up to the filler neck!

My 1972 did not come with any sort of overflow tank. I'm sure of this as I'm the only person who ever owned the car and it was not there. In fact I cannot think of anyplace they could even put it. The passenger side fender well is filled with the charcoal canister, windshield washer, and a/c dryer. The driver side has the battery and starter relay. Not much room left over.

Got it...
So it fits on the front side of the radiator cradle in front of the battery? Now I know! Knowledge is power, except when speaking to one’s wife!
I looked at my build sheet and that must be what goes into the blank "5--" block in "Engine Accessories" on line 11. Interestingly enough that “Engine Accessories†section on line 11 is not even listed in the build sheet decode book I have.
Seems odd that would be an option. I mean how many salesmen would ask the question, "do you want a burp can", or how many customers would even know to ask for it?
I wonder if that was standard on California cars?
Amazing how each day I find out more and more about a car I've had for nearly 35 years now!
