Looking desperately for a glass hood for my 72. I have only been able to find a non pin on hood from US Body Source, and they dont seem to have a great reputation as far as quality. Does anybody know of another company making a glass hood that will still use hinges for the 71-72? Im either looking for a Satellite type hood or a 6 pack scoop hood.

I have a Body Souce fiberglass 6 pak hood in my storage shed.

I have been looking for a way to use hinges without the springs.
Maybe epoxy/figerglass a block of wood to the underside and attach the hinges to the block of wood.

What has anyone else heard about Body Source hoods? Problems?

I have an AAR hood...they use 2 metal bars laminated to the hood...
they are tapped and threaded for the hood bolts....and just go to your hardware store (or nut and bolt shop) and get some lighter springs.

How does the fit and finish look on that Body Source hood?

I keep hearing some bad stuff about Body Source, but cant verify any of it.

I plan on taking the springs off and using a prop rod to hold the hood up.

You ought to just sell it to me and I'll tell you if it was a good piece or not.

It's been sitting around my place for almost 2 yrs. Have not inspected it recently.

The surface looked nice and clean from what I remember. One corner had a little raw glass unprimered but that would not show and easily taken care of when I go to paint it. I have not had it on the car to see how straight it is.

Yeah, you really need to just sell it to me!!!

Man I wish I had other plans for it but I do want to plant it on my car one of these days.

The hood is not a priority thus still in the storage barn.

My car is not number matching or ever going to sell at B/J.

I have a sublime green car with black stobe stripe, black out bumpers, hood callouts, mirror, and all side marker light trim are black. I will paint the fiberglass 6 pak hood black as well but may paint 383 in sublime on the scoop sides.

Maybe next year or year after I'll get to the hood. Picked it up and a compleat grill set for $150. At that price I gotta put it on the car. Not flip it. Besides when I get to the body and paint it will be cheaper to put it on and park the old steel one then.

Sublime and black accents looks kinda kewl.

Well I spoke with ABS and what I thought was correct. The 71-72 RR hood they sell they buy from US Body. The lady that answered the phone at ABS vehemently denied this, but their tech guy said it.

Ive heard so many bad reviews of US Body stuff that I cant take the chance on it being junk.

Arent strong enough to me.
Not a big fan or figerglass or carbon fiber.
It is what it is light and cheap.
So I mean you figure fiberglass.
Polyvinyl polymer hardener and heat and that is heat.
And a whole hell of a lot of wiggle in it.
And it gets worse the faster you go.
Henceforth why supersonic jets are made of aluminum.

I think USbody is the only one that sells fiberglass stuff for our cars... AAR doesn't have any 71-74 fiberglass stuff... I read on moparts once from a few people that their USbody stuff was ok, but that was half a year ago that I read that and don't ask me what exactly they had...

Is this possible?? A steel Satellite hood, install the fiberglass airgrabber bubble then cut out the steel area below the bubble along with some of the inner structure to lighten it up somewhat??
