I posted something similar to this on Moparts.
I want to put 17" rims on my 71 Satellite Sebring, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience doing this themselves. I'm interested in any rim manufacturers out there that have rims that will fit or who can make them with a proper offset. I'm thinking about 17x8's all around with 255/45's.
Here's a pic of the car with the current 15" Amer Racing Hurricane II's, shod with 235/60's.
All opinions are welcome!
Thanks.

Thats almost the combo I was looking at- but I wanted a 50 series profile. The 255 is about all that will clear the front steering arc, and i wanted to keep a 27" tire diameter.
Take a look through the past postings, I think we had a discussion on this.
I'm currently using a 15X8 rim with "0" offset and a 255/60 goodyear eagle GT II.. the 255 and "0" offest is the ticket, then the rim diameter vs sidewall profile is the point of adjustment to run a 17" X 8 rim.

4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Hi JimF,
I got 17" wheels on my '71 RR, they are 17x8" with 4" backspacing. My tyres are Falken STZ01 - rear:255/50R17 and front:225/50R17.
As Roadchicken mentions, a 27" diameter tyre fits better in them rather huge wheelwells of a '71 RR, therefore you should go with the 50-profile tyres on a 17" rim.
Imo it looks far better with that higher profile, I don't like the low profile tyres too much on Musclecars.

Good luck with the wheel hunt.
