Roadrunner interior door panel emblem

Hi guys,

I am in the process of restoring my RR interior including new upper vinyl door panels. My problem is the small Plymouth emblem, I managed to get one of them off, or part of one that is. The aluminium came off but the underlaying soft plastic part is still glued on the old vinyl part. Does anyone do reproductions of these fellas or do I need to get the old ones off for re-use?
Btw, did the Roadrunner have its own emblem on the dood panel or any emblem for that matter?

Thanks,
Capsule

Hi 71440 GTX,

yepp the panels are from a SSP, but I find them the best looking panels for '71 so I'm going for this design:-)

Im thinking of doing special RR emblems myself to mount where the Plymouth emblem normally goes, if I can't find new ones.

What if you machined out 2 small circles with a bit of a lip on the edge....then place a horn button decal in the center...maybe spot on some tabs...to mount them with.......

is this too tacky???

take care scott

is this too tacky??? No that's cool. I wonder why nobody ever thought of it. I always liked it saying beep beep in the centre of the horn.

Well guys,

I gave up on the Plymouth badges for the interior door panels and had some Roadrunner badges made to fit.
They are chrome text on black with the bird in purple and yellow in the middle. They are about 3 milimeters thick transparent plastic with smooth round edges.

Ordered them at http://www.makingitdigital.net

As you can see I also finished gluing the new vinyl to the steel carrier panel and fitted new "cat whiskers", now these panels look brand new again:-D

That really looks nice, like maybe Plymouth should have done it like that in the first place.

I like the fact that you have the option for the background color and the lettering. I'm gonna have to copy your idea. Thats cool another problem solved.
