Rear fender RR logo

Post by Capsule » Mon Aug 07, 2006 9:16 am

Hi guys,

I'm in the middle of figuring out which decals and logos to put on my '71 RR. I'm not gonna go wih the strobe kit and therefore I would like the "Roadrunner" logo and the running bird on the rear fender. However I cant find them at Year One, does anyone know where to get a set of those?

Year One does carry them:

Decal part number: FD20LH

Emblem part number: VC207

These are on their website www.yearone.com

Thanx Bruce,

I did wonder if the VC207 might be the right logo. My car didn't have these originally, do they require holes for mounting, or do they come with adhesive?
Alternatively, you think they could be altered for gluing on?

The ones now offered do NOT have posts. They're made to be glued on.

If your car is a road runner and didn't have the holes for the quarter panel emblems then it would have had strobe stripes. All 71 non strobe cars had the emblems above the wheel on the quarter, and they were all post mounted.

Correct. My car has the post-mounted type, for example, but the reproduction emblems don't have posts--they mount by adhesive.

I need a new "runner" as one of mine is broke in half, but I want the original post type to replace it. All the aftermarket versions are the '72 style adhesive backed type and it won't look right with a mixed pair.

I saw these on e-bay and was wondering if these would work for the fenders? I have to ask the seller the size. 8)

Not to fear ... I heard we should no longer use the "C" word. (Clone) ... what you (and I) have are "TRIBUTE" cars...

I just checked the Year One web site and part # FD108 says

"Quarter panel emblem-Includes mounting pegs attached to the backside of the emblem. Sold only as a set. Use 2 sets per car."

Kicker is the price is $85.00! I don't know if that's for a single set or the two required for a car.

FWIW my 2004 Year One catalog shows them as # FD 108 and they are #39.95 a set. The FD 109 according to that catalog is for the 1973-1974 whihc is odd as they look like the same thing. All of them say they have "mounting studs".

On a semi-related note. Where does one find the locating measurements for the runnng bird decals, the GTX emblems and the standing bird decal on the trunk lid? My FSM, body manual and parts manual don't have that in them.

...which is odd because the one real Road Runner emblem on a '73-'74 is mounted on the decklid, and it does not have posts.

Damn, seems when you want posts, they don't have 'em; when you don't want posts, they go outta their way to put 'em on.
