Roof rail caulking for 1971 RR

Hi All,
Dealing with a couple of issues at the body shop. First there is some type of caulking in the gap between the roof and the roof drip rail. It appears to be some type of flexible filler. Any ideas for what to use to replace it. I don't want something to shrink and crack the paint.
Also I have not pulled a 71-74 dash frame before. Do they come out the same way E-Body dashes with 5 bolts near the windshield and two on the sides down low? The body shop will be pulling the windshield on Wednsday and I will pull the dash on Thursday. Any help will be appreciated.

For the roof rail, I would use autmotive seam sealer.

The dash removal is prety much the same. Drop the column, the take off the speaker cover plate ( 2 + and 4 hex head screw in the defrost ducts. Then I think tere are just 4 bolts under the plate. Then the 2 pivot bolts on either side of the dash on the door hinge post.

Hey, I just took two of those out last weekend. One other note, if your dash is in good shape, you'll probably want to cover (with something soft...blanket?) your steering wheel/column where it's laying, as well as your console or shifter so you don't get any scuffs on yer dash. Like the man said...it's pretty easy. Helps to have another set of paws when you do it too. And, the plastic a-pillars covers have to come off, they're in the way.
