I thik it's the color of the block. Street HEmi Orange for the HiPos, right? I saw something else where they sell a different orange tone, but I believe it is only correct for the air cleaner lids on air grabber cars.

There are two oranges mopar used. The reddish orange- similar to "tor-red" is for the early street hemi's.

The more Vit C ( ish) orange is the Hi-po engine color. Everything gets that color. Block, pan, V covers AG lid.

72 and up, and all Lo-po engines were blue, and then there was turquoise that was used up until 67.

AG lids are a slightly different orange than the engine.
The factory painted the engine complete (minus carb), so valve covers, gaskets, exhaust manifolds...everything was sprayed orange

Is there a seperate paint code for it? or was it just the difference in paint batches? I know I have two colors on mine, but the engine was painted at one time, then- same code paint- got a slightly different shade on the AG lid. And actually I'll assume the lid and the ag parts ( flapper door and hinge covers) are supposed to match the lid.

I believe there was a separate paint code. Both Roger Gibson and Totally Auto sell the AG lid paint (and state that it is different than the engine paint). I agree, it looks like the AG orange parts are the same color as the lid.
