Its been a while since I posted this thread but i really appreciate all the info. I got lucky recently and found a 440 in a 1976 RV/ motor home. Its in a popular junkyard and has been sitting there for years now in this RV. The yards price on any engine pre 91 or so is less $150 with the carb or even less if I toss the distributor and carb. It has 452 heads on it and for less than a hundred bucks, I get a 440 and don't have to trash the origional 383 and 4 speed. Since I have an extra b body 4 speed from 69', I'm gonna mount that up behind the 440.

Also got a buddy with a garage full of 440's, hemis, just about any RB and B engines. I know I can buy a forged 4 speed crank from him to replace the cast crank this motor probably has.
