'72s have guaranteed front disc brakes, best grille and taillamp styling, but have the cheapo side-marker lamps.
'71 has the cool side-marker lamps, but grille isn't as cool EXCEPT for the bird-head emblem.
'73-'74 has one of the best hood styles, but it's non-functional, and has generic fenders/front-end (rear-end too for that matter), and stupid oversized gov'ment regulated rubber bumpers (I would say "bumperettes", but they're too big, LOL). The good is there are still lots of big-block four-speeds to be had for cheap (by today's standards, anyway). Interiors are refined and so is the suspension (just buy the K-member aluminum spacers).
So, give me a '72 (with a 1970 340 that isn't stock) and mold in the '71 side-marker lights and throw on a '73-'74 hood and call it a day. Weird how the hood just bolts on considering the front-end is way different. Oh, and find a way to throw on that cute little bird head emblem.

with some work the 73-74 could be made to function and duct to a dual snorkel air cleaner , as for the bumpers te rear is still basicly flush mounted with the exceptoin of a 1" or so filler and the front bumper is small / thin and the bumperettes are removable .patrick wrote: '73-'74 has one of the best hood styles, but it's non-functional, and has generic fenders/front-end (rear-end too for that matter), and stupid oversized gov'ment regulated rubber bumpers (I would say "bumperettes", but they're too big, LOL). i like the 73-4s pretty much just for the stripe and the hood...but mine would be black n white like yours...but the front end would be all blacked out...pry do a custom flush front like on the 69 charger 500s...MHM...i'd be doin some serious modding if i had that style i think - i thought about getting one - a 74 winchester gray (idk if that's what they called it then) with black stripe and BLUE interior...MMMM good...bench seat, 4 speed - no drivetrain though - but rest of the car is there
