Oops, I goofed with the photo permissions on flickr - you should be able to see them now!

The second pic is for dual exhaust but the pipes went on the side of the gas tank and turned down into the valence. My first roadrunner was like this.I think I have a pic. Join Photobucket its easy to load pics
Like this but the pipes are tucked under a little more, and you can barely see the tips.

I went to Photobucket - I guess Flickr no longer allows you to post pics (and I'm a premium subscriber - jerks)...

I am sure they can bend the pipe where you can use tips with the smaller cutout........I would think.Matter of fact, I think the 71's used a different(larger) tip than a 72. That would explain the differences in the two tips and the two valences.I just thought of that. I am sure Eric or Bruce knows.
71 and 72 tips are the same diameter.
Can they be used on non cutout valances...sure, but I personally don't like the look...they'll hang down and look out of place IMHO (sorry if I offend anyone). Also, tip cars had exhaust hangars that the bracket on the tip fit into, I'd imagine trying to hang the tips below the valance would make it impossible to use the factory hangers.

Keep in mind, not all 440+6 cars had resonators

I personally like the resonators. Whether or not my car originally had them, its gonna get them. I remember my dads 73ssp had them.

So to 're-take' the thread (lol), is the consensus that my tip cutout valance was added by a previous owner and repainted, or that it came that way..?

Eric, would that be on the fender tag if you have the exhaust tips?

So, judging from the photos, I bought the wrong damn rear valance
I need one with cut-outs...
