Which type of alternator is factory correct for my car? I have a 71 Road Runner built in April 71 would the alternator have a round back side or a square back? Any other info on the dates that it may have changed over between the 2 would be great. I have a few alternators one says date code 70 and has round back and other one has 71 on it I believe but hard to read the sunburst date code and near output terminal due to light stamping.
Thanks,
Wizard

In 78 when I had my 71 roadrunner the alternator was round in the back.I think it was the original.

Found out the answer. It's a 37 amp roundback alternator.
Thanks,
