Tail Lights

Post by EaglesCall » Thu Oct 19, 2006 12:22 am

Has anyone out there rebuilt the tail light assemblies on a '72? Is there a supplier out there where I can get new sockets for the lamps? :(
Thanks,
Eaglescall

You should be able to pick up the 1157 type sockets at most any good auto parts store. Thats what I did. Check NAPA, Bumper to Bumper- ect.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Thanks for the info. I also have been contacted by a rep from Cole-Hersee, he is looking to see if he can come up with OEM replacements. He thinks it might still be an inventory item. If this comes back positive I'll copy you guys in.

Mine were in good shape so I didn't have to mess with them, they worked fine. But I did notice the sockets are more or less permanenty mounted in the plastic. Looks like they were put in then the metal was bent down on the inside to hold them in place. Different than having something that just snaps in an empty hole, which is what you might end up having to do if you get generic sockets.
