Splash Shields

Post by 71bird » Tue Jan 23, 2018 11:43 pm

On a 71, were the left, and right splash shields riveted on, or were they held on with sheet metal bolts originally?
Thanks

Assuming you're talking about the plastic shields behind front wheels. Bolted. (for that matter, I don't think any were riveted)

Yes, behind the wheels. All of the repos come with rivets, is the reason I ask.

Can someone post a picture of the correct fasteners for these splash shields?

I'm sorry, I didn't specify, I meant the splash shields on the frame rails

]Looks like this.(but this one is somewhat larger) Oops. Guess I no longer can put up pics. Kind of looks like a paper clip that has been twisted and has crossed ends ,or legs. The spring action keeps it in place.

Yup, those are for the soft shields on the engine compartment access holes. No rivets sine they need to be removable for clutch linkage and front end alignments. I think the same guy sells sets of them as does Megaparts. I know Ive seen just the clips.
