Installation help with air grabber decal

Post by 70 RR » Sat Oct 03, 2015 10:27 am

I'm repainting my hood and the "R" in the word grabber is screwed up because it makes contact with the door pin and l guess it turns? Is there a cap or something missing that covers the pin? Please help, here is a picture showing my problem.

Not missing anything, that’s how it was assembled. Decal installed after the pin. Pin floats, and was necessary to cut the decal around the pin head the remove. I changed the lever pin design on my current A/G, installed a nut insert on the outside, filled the pin hole outer surface, ran a screw and sleeve in from the inside.

Thanks for the response, that's a great idea. I'm wondering if I put a small piece of electrical tape *just enough to cover the pin head) on the backside of the decal so it can't stick to the pin wouldn't do the trick? I'll figure it out, I'm just glad I'm not missing anything just another bad design.....

Have to consider a part of “good design” back then was to design them to be assembled as quickly as possible with no real concern about servicing or lasting more than a few years.
