Heater box vacuum question

Post by rr6pak » Sun Oct 19, 2014 2:00 pm

'71 RR with A/C. Trying to finish up my heater box that has been partially in the restoration stage for years. Cant find any of the pictures I took of the lines. Does anyone know where all the vacuum lines go to the actuators? I have the FSM in paper back and downloaded it on my PC but its not real clear where all the lines go. I don't want to mix it up. Any pictures anyone has will be greatly appreciated.

The vacuum hose diagrams in the manual are vague about which hose goes to what actuator. Here are the diagrams that actually label the actuators.

Here is my original Heater AC vac lines in their original configuration.

Image

The short white line that comes off the plastic tee goes to the Bypass Actuator (Actuator closest to the driver's feet). The group of three (white, yellow, red) lines go to the AC and Defrost Actuators that are on the cabin side of the Heater/AC box. And at the tail end - the white and red lines go to the Fresh Air Door Actuator that is on the firewall side of the Heater/AC box. There is a plain black line at the tail end that I am unsure of at the moment, and the large green line I am not sure of its purpose either. Hope this helps! Scott.

I used my mityvac to put a light vacuum on all the diaphragms to be sure doors opened and closed....it was really cool to see them work...

THANKS a bunch Scott and to you too Steve. I was playing around with the idea of trying to rig up a vacuum source and see what door does what in correlation to what the selector in the dash is set.
