1971 gtx export.
I just bought a 71 gtx. And after decoding tag. I see that it's an export car. How can I find out where it was exported to?
Re: 1971 gtx export.
Unless you can find a metal tag in the engine compartment or original paperwork when the car was sold new you'll probably never know. A lot of export coded cars were sold to servicemen (and weren't necessarily exported anywhere), waiting for them when they returned home.

I also own a I code(export) 71 gtx. Yes most I code cars were order by servicemen and put off to the side until pick up. I was told there should be an E in the order number for servicemen and also that there were only 7- I code 71 gtx's. Maybe someone at the nest knows? Or if that's correct.

COOL sounds right, my also starts with E on order number. Really cool to think some servicemen overseas order your car to have when they got home.
Re: 1971 gtx export.
FYI, all export coded 71s will have a VON starting with E
