Clutch ground cable
My 74 wasn't starting from key. When I did some investigating I found that the clutch wired needed to be ground. From the firewall it connected into the stater relay. It's a green one. I bypassed it from relay to battery and it works. Without hacking my wiring any suggestions. Do I need new wire switch that is attached on clutch

Re: Clutch ground cable
That wire goes to the switch on the clutch pedal linkage. When the pedal is pushed down , the switch provides the body ground, through the green wire, to the starter relay so it can work. It is a Neutral safety switch for the manual transmission cars.
To bypass the switch:
Take the terminal the green wire was connected to on the relay and run a wire from it to body ground. That way the starter relay will work no matter what. Just make sure you have the clutch in or the transmission in neutral before you turn the key.

Re: Clutch ground cable
ground the wire as instructed on previous post and always start the car in neutral. Don't replace the switch or always start with the clutch depressed as it puts an unnecessary load against the crank while starting and before the oil has started getting pumped through the engine, or so I've read.
