Power steering vs manual steering column

Post by badfast » Thu Aug 08, 2013 6:12 am

Can any one tell me the difference between a power steering column and a manual steering column in the 71-74 b bodys? Could the manual one be converted to work with power steering.

The manual column is longer to make up the difference in the length of the steering box. More hassle to modify than just find the proper one. Be careful as the post 72 columns are not the same. They have rag-joints with the isolated K members.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

I converted mine to power steering because I'm running the new borgeson ps box. I just installed the box, put the end coupling on the box with splines full engaged (you buy this seperately) installed the column to see where I needed to cut, Drilled a new hole for the pin and pressed it in (supplied with coupling) and viola! your done.
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol
