Antifreeze Leak
I'm running a rebuilt 360 in my Satellite. I've a leak out of the adjustment bolt to block, on the power steering pump. When the engine was built, all the bolts were degreased in an acid tank, removing rust and some of the metal composition from the bolt, thus the leak. Anyone resolved this problem? I don't know if sealants will work, and I haven't found a source for new bolts yet. Might try plumbers tape??? Howco71

Re: Antifreeze Leak
Maybe drain the coolant, clean out the threads, and apply a fairly liberal amount of blue Loctite.

Re: Antifreeze Leak
Any time you have a thread to thread connection that doesn't have a compression fitting, with a liquid source being sealed, you need to use some type of sealant. You should be able to use regular teflon tape to seal this connection. I found out the hard way that all the exhaust manifold bolts go into the water jacket and had to teflon tape all of the bolts.
P.S. "plumber's tape", is the metal stuff with the screw holes in it for tying down pipes and stuff.

Re: Antifreeze Leak
Teflon tape is for pipe threads. Use a good silicone just make sure everything is clean and dry.

Re: Antifreeze Leak
Will give the sealant a try when I get the car home. It's in the exhaust shop now for some repair. The previous owner used a big hammer to get the exhaust to fit. Some areas of distorted pipe rubbing on the torsion bar and frame. Howco71 (I have a roll of white thread tape. Will try that if sealant doesn't work).
