1971 Hood turn signal location
New guy here long time watcher first time poster. Picked up a really nice hood for my 71 GTX and the holes for turn signals are factory punched but are located near centerline of call outs.I've seen this location on just a handful of cars, most are located more towards windshield near rear of call outs.Thought maybe hard to view them this far foward and move them back in later production for easier visibility. Does anyone really know and should i move them????

Welcome to the nest!
I've only noticed them in one location, but that doesn't mean there couldn't have been a variance by factory. Can you post a photo?

Sure I'll take some pics next week when I go to the body shop. I purchased the hood from a guy parting out a gtx with an August build date, thats why I was thinking maybe later productions could have been moved.

Thanks Uppy for posting these pics for Me. Posting these pics very frustrating.
Here's the pics of my hood notice the holes for turn signals, much farther foward then most. Yes the holes are factory punch.

So now that you can see turn signals are located further foward should I relocate or leave them alone?

Re: 1971 Hood turn signal location
Is it possible with the more centrally located turn signal indicators that there was some interference with the wiring and the air cleaner? See attached pic of my 71 RR with the rear hood mounted indicators. If you look at the location of where the center mounted indicator would be there is possibly an issue rubbing the air cleaner. As far as whether to leave the indicators or relocate them, I vote to leave them where they are now. Do you have the wiring for the indicators? If so did you note the wiring routing? If you have a pic of the wiring installed, we would like to see the routing.
Good luck,
Ron

Re: 1971 Hood turn signal location
I have a 71 RR and my turn signals are in the same location on the hood. I've only seen a couple of other RRs with the hood mounted turn signals in the same location as mine. They are factory cutouts not added after.

Was your 71RR an early build date? I was told my hood came off an early build date car.
