This is what my 71 service manual says about your problem and possible solutions.

Condition:
Motor stops in any position when instrument panel switch is truned "off".

Possible cause:
A) Motor park switch failure in the open position.

B) Open parking circuit or open field circuit.

Correction:
A) Replace motor assembly (two speed) replace park switch and gear ( variable or three speed).

B) Test continuity of blue, red, and green wiring circuit and correct as necessary.

I hope that this information is helpful.

Very common problem on the two speeds. Park cam is probably toast.

At last check, there were no more reman units out there. I haven't check recently though.

remanufactured motors are available - cardone 40-350 should do it.
