All done! Today was around 60 degrees out, perfect (for February) weather for doing a little paint work! I used Krylon bumper black.
Old grille...
Finally got it all out...
Paint is drying...
All done..!

A few weeks back, there was a good post with pictures for removing dash on moparts.com. I printed it out. If you can't find it on there, I could scan the pages and send them to you.

I thought maybe Southern because my temp was exact same that day. My home is on the east side of the State up there.

Just wanted to post a thank you for this very clear information. Had heard that the 71-74 dash could be removed without too much difficulty but couldn't find any info in my FSM that gave pictures of clear data. I have the 72 Chrysler/Plymouth 2 book manual.
bruce wrote:As has been said, grille comes out without removing the bumper. Dash isn't really that bad, loosen the steering column--bolts on the firewall and bolts holding it to the bottom of the dash. Remove the pin on the steering box connector. Be sure to loosen the connectors on the wiring to the column. Then pull the column out.
You'll need to remove the fusebox from the bulkhead connector, so the wiring will come out with the dash.
Remove the radio speaker cover--phillips screws holding that in--then you'll see 4 bolts holding the top of the dash. You should remove the kick panels as well, you'll see a bolt on each side holding the dash in, just loosen those. Remove the bolts from the top of the dash and the whole unit should swivel out into your lap, pivoting on the bolts you loosened under the kick panels.
You'll have to make sure everything comes off the heater box--defroster vents and such. Speedometer cable needs to be removed. There are bound to be a few wires needing disconnected or taken out of clamps, like the ones to the dome light, etc.
It's really NOT that hard, I've had the dash in and out of my Runner 3 or 4 times for a variety of reasons...
Good luck!

im new also but i have just finished stripping my car, only thing left is suspension and steering column to send to body shop on and i have to take the pedals out after work tomorrow removing my grille i snipped the tip off of the plastic plugs and pulled them out from the other side, you can get new ones cheap on ebay, a lot cheaper than a grille i didnt remove those three small brackets until i had my bumper off also i sprayed all my bumper bolts and bumper bracket bolts with pb blaster and let them soak overnight before i tried to break all those loose as for the suggestion to bag and tag everything do it even the parts you break or damage so you know exactly what you need when you go to put it back together also they have some service manuals for sale on ebay i got one i have referred to it a couple times but to be honest most of the times i did it seemed as if a step was missing maybe stuff that would have been standard knowledge to dealer mechanics

The grille looks very nice. When are you going to paint the silver?
