After Market A/C

Post by 74roadbird » Wed Jun 13, 2012 2:29 pm

Anybody ever install an aftermarket A/C unit in a B-B0dy? Years ago, Hot Rod, or somebody like that installed one in a car. It was basically self contained and didn't use the heater core, etc. Haven't heard anything about it since. I bought the Runner w/o air as I could only afford the 318 back then, and didn't want to lose any HP. The 383 in it now could easily handle it, but I don't want to replace a bunch of parts, since she just hit the road after 30+ years in storage and rebuild.

Thinking the spouse may not be up for long trips to car cruises like DreamCruise if we don't have air other than 4/60 (4 windows open/60mph for those that haven't heard this one). She doesn't like the noise of open windows for long periods of time. Might be a good reason for not installing a unit ( :stirpot:   ) but I'd miss her company on the road! She's pretty good company on trips! :D

I saw an ad in a magazine for coolmyclasicmopar.com. You might be interested in it.

seen them - they are pretty pricey - expect to pay over a grand for this setup for example: http://www.classicautoair.com/70_73_Mop ... ar_AC.html

a buddy of mine dropped one of these into his 71 cuda - said insatallation was easy - looks and works good too!
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol
