I'd be careful using bleach....may make them more brittle than they aleady areroelbest wrote:Well Jimmy Boros replied very quickly and I have a decal on its way!!
I guess I am going to try and clean my bottles, they have no cracks, are just stained and yellow. Perhaps leave them in bleach for a few days and see how they clean up.

AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!
Re: Rad overflow bottle
If it's yellow due to dirt or rust, it might clean up. If it's yellow just due to age and exposure, it probably won't.
I'd like to find an economical stock appearing recovery tank for my car. Those $200 repros are WAY too rich for my blood.
Meanwhile, one of these will have to do:

Re: Rad overflow bottle
Be careful if using the bottle in the picture!
I've got one in my race car, make sure you tape the valve closed.
Mine has opened while on the track, not good.
It also seeps around the grommet on the bottom, other than that it's perfect

Re: Rad overflow bottle
I've seen the one you have Larry. From what I was told, the coolant recovery system wasn't a common option and most people who did have it, removed it over the years. I imagine it was a pretty rare option in 72. You usually see the common cap with the "ears" even on cars with the recovery system.Moparlar wrote:Looks like the NOS ones I have for my 72 except mine are black letters74rrgtx wrote:This is the cap I have on my 74 Runner, which is the proper one with the coolant recovery bottle.Moparlar wrote:Is anyone running the different radiator cap on their Coolant recovery system?

Re: Rad overflow bottle
the main problem with finding the 72 set is the lower bracket. most are left on the car and very hard to find. i was lucky and found an nos bottle marked 70 charger. these bottles were also found on 72 imperials but the lower bracket is different, upper bracket is the same.
