Just so you understand the $177.00 is WITH the cores sent in! If you don't they charge and EXTRA $150.00 until you send them the cores. If you have NO cores the whole shebang will cost $327.00.JosephGiannini wrote:Remanufactured door hinge set for 1970-1974 E-body models.

Since I wanted to just swap the new remanufactured hinges with my old ones, which were already painted and installed, I did not send the cores in. I got the new remanufactured hinges, painted them, installed them one at a time, then sent the old ones back. As soon as Year One got them, they credited my card the $150.00 they had previously charged it.

I rebuilt a set years ago. I bought a nos repair kit at a swap meet. The kit comes with everything not just the pins and bushings, it comes with the roller and that stopper thing. If you only need the pins and bushing it could be an eay fix as long as you can find them. Ive been looking at hardware stores but I am having no luck. Any sugestions on finding the bushngs and pins. Please help before I have to bite the bullit.
R/t specialties list a hinge pin for 71 b-bodies.they have the bushings listed seperate. And they also have a universal rebuild kit for a/b/e bodies?

Here's something new I was told about on the weekend by the previous owner of my car. He has built several of these cars and I believe he knows his stuff.
Apparently, for those of us who are not concerned with being exactly correct, You can use the complete hinges off of a 73-4 B-Body on the 71-2 bodies.
This gets rid of that roller and spring assembly and replaces it with the newer s-springs which are easier to obtain.
I've never had a problem getting the pins and bushings, but it took me ages to get springs for the older style hinge. This seems like a good solution.

Re: door hinge rebuild
I am going the route that 72GY9Runner has suggested. Got a hold of a 73 Satty that was rusted to pieces on the bottom side, so got lots of good parts from it. I compared the hinge sets and they are nearly identical. I will post back when I install them and let everyone know how they worked.

WOW. Talk about digging up a dead thread. I was going to pull the trigger and blow the $230 for a rebuilt set. This is great news. Now I just have to figure out what to spend the extra $200 on. Thanks a million.
I know the OP of this thread. I bought so many parts from him in the past. I know this will make his day for sure. He doesn't do much with Mopars these days because he had a stroke and has a hard time doing a lot of things. He always tells me how much he misses beating the snot ot of his 6 pac runner. In his prime he could do the best metal and paint work I have ever seen as well as rebuild anything.
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS THREAD BACK TO LIFE!

Re: door hinge rebuild
Heres something I did.The long pin that goes through the roller for the spring lever was wore out and the spring would bind and pop. I used an AN ( aircraft ) bolt with a self locking nut. After it's painted you don't really notice.Go to the local airport and ask a mechanic for one.Ask for a AN3- whatever length you need.
