whats the difference between the 7290 and 7260 yokes? im looking to get a complete centersection but im lost on the yokes. how do i tell what the car currently has? will my driveshaft work with both yokes?
also witch case is better 742 or 489?
will axles from a 741 case, open rear, work with either the 742 or 489 sure grip?
Thanks

Note: A 7260 is 2 1/8 (2.125) in between the inner edges and a 7290 is 2 5/8 (2.622) in between the inner edges.
I talked to one of my friends about the better center section and he said he prefers the 742 because the preload is set with shims while the 489 is set with a crush sleeve. I've heard the 489 is stronger though. That same friend is currently running a 741 case in his Coronet with a mildly built 440/4 speed. He said he hasn't had any problems with it, but he just drives on the street with street tires. I don't think I'd try that with slicks on a track.
I'm pretty sure all 8 3/4 are 30 spline axles?

Re: yokes
In my experience, all axles will interchange. If you haven't removed the yoke, you'll need to know whether yours is coarse or fine spline. The hex size of the nuts are different, if still together, maybe someone can tell us what size corresponds to which spline. I think you can also find a conversion for the 489 case that will let you set the pre-load with shims.
