Where is the cowl location for the last 6 digits of the VIN# on a 72 RR?

It is usually under the cowl hood gasket on the drivers side you could also look on the radiator upper core support.

Check the rear package tray too.

There are no numbers on the rear package tray.

The numbers can be found on the rad cradle, fender tag, cowl, dash and door. Thats it.

There are numbers on the rear package tray. That's the good news. They bad news? Those numbers are the part # for the package tray, and not the VIN # of the car.

My matching numbers on my 71 ssp are on the radiator support and the cowl. My numbers on the cowl are located on the overhanging sheet of metal just above the wiper motor. My numbers on the upper radiator support are located just above the drivers side vertical section of the support on the engine side. I think the location does vary from year to year, maybe even during the same year. Hope this helps.
