'71RR rear bumper removal question

Post by rr6pak » Sat Nov 15, 2008 5:29 pm

I know how the bumper comes out(3 bolts+1nut) to take the bumper, brackets, tail light housings, and the wiring; but here's the question:

How does the rubber grommet come out with the harness? I don't want to tear the rubber, thats my concern because I dont think they're repop'd. Do you just squeeze the grommet and push back, backwards towards the rear?

Rod,
Most of the body wiring grommets molded to wiring harness on these cars are pretty beefy. Would be pretty hard to tear or rip them while working with them normally. Just don’t use any sharp tools on them.

Got the bumper off. Pushed the rubber back thru the hole. Yeah, it is pretty beefy. Did find some grommets that would work one nite at work, just in case :)

Just FYI- dis-assembly of my car is coming along good. If I have more questions, I'll post them or get in touch personally with some of the members here. :D
