Go here to Hamtramck's historical site. . .the dealer books identified the stripes as black, white, or gold. . as far as engine call out numbers, a bit more research is needed. . .(meaning, I don't know. ..).

THE CHRYSLER PARTS BOOK DOES NOT SHOW COLOR AVAILABILITY FOR CALL OUT OR HASH STRIPES.

My bat, that was the Fury -- a very biblical car (and God drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden in a Fury)-- but the 1971 paint chip link does identify a bunch of colors for striping options. . .

Like Landon said, all 71s (runners and GTXs) with the standard dual indent hood got black background with white numbers. 72 was just the opposite.
The indent pinstripes (I assume that's what you mean by hash stripes?) were only available in black.

I'm fairly certain V21 stripes were black or white, depending on body color.

Case in point... my sig pic

Note my car had black on white engine call outs when I bought it, but I replaced them with white on black.

My car is not original and by no means a referrence standard.

THANKS FOR THE INPUT, AT RED BARNS MOPAR SHOW IN MICHIGAN THIS SUMMER I PURCHASED 3 SETS OF 440+6 HOOD CALL OUTS IN THE MOPAR BOXES DATED 1983 THE CALL OUTS ARE WHITE WITH BLACK NUMBERS AND HAVE THE PART NUMBERS STAMPED ON THE STRIPES WRAPPERS?? IF 1972 ONLY HAD WHITE WITH BLACK NUMBERS IN 72 THEY WOULD NOT HAVE THE SAME PART NUMBER, AND 440+6 CALL OUT WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN AVAILABLE I HAVE A BLACK RR WITH WHITE STRIPES THE HOOD HAS BLACK WITH WHITE NUMBERS AND A TAWNY GOLD RR WITH WHITE STRIPES,IT ALSO HAS BLACK HASH STRIPES, WITH BLACK CALL OUTS AND WHITE NUMBERS BOTH CARS HAVE ORIGINAL STRIPES. SO DARK CAR COLOR MAY NOT MATTER. DOES ANYONE HAVE A ORIGINAL CAR WITH WHITE CALL OUTS WITH BLACK NUMBERS.......?????? THANKS

This car needs to be a thread all it's own, so let's not highjack this one, but it's supposedly all original. I'm sure I'm not the only one who had it on their ebay watch list.

Anyway...

It is V21 equipped, but there isn't a very good shot of the hood showing the stripes. Call outs are definitely white on black though.

All factory documentation I have including factory parts books and graphic placement engineering drawings indicates only one part number for each hood callout and one for the V21 treatment. Every survivor car I've looked over is black with white engine callouts and black hood pinstripes if coded for them regardless of paint color. For all other years, the V21 was a hood blackout on all models. Remember, the 440+6 was available for the 72 model year, and the NOS decals you've found are dated more than 10 years after the original build of the cars. I stand by my original statement.

i do believe i have seen a black GTX with black pinstripes in the call-outs - white is pretty popular - no idea if correct or not, but in most cases, mopars have black accents on the hood, not white.....in my op i thought you were referring to the stripes that go from the call out, over the fender, to the bone line.

My call outs are black(numbers), no white, and Tor-Red as the background color. There is a trim of black tape at the top of the callout and goes the whole length of it.
