Post by fourforty6pac » Wed May 07, 2008 10:04 pm

What color/finish is on a 72 ac/blower motor? I've seen black ones, but i have seen a couple that were cadium plated? It's been a hard nos piece for me to find and I think I am going to restore one my self. Thanks

Holy crap! Over 50 views and no one can answer. Does anyone have a pic. of a restored 72 under the hood, or maybe some original factory ads? What did you guys do to yours when you restored your cars? Thanks.

hmmm....interesting....everything under my hood is black or bright orange, so can't help ya out, but i'd assume black, or a cast metal finish (like grey)...i'd think 72RoadrunnerGTX or there's someone else that has some beautiful restos going on/done that would know

I painted my blower motor with Rust-Oleum “7519 Stainless Steel”. When it was pulled from one of my Sats it looked to have been unpainted silver cadmium plated originally. I painted the support bracket around the A/C evaporator low pressure fitting with Eastwood's Silver cad paint.

Looks great, Thanks for the pics. I'm guessing that there is some date thing when it comes to the finish. Maybe some else will enlighten us.

blower motor

My blower is silver. I think the color was changed in later years or if it was a replacement. The second picture that 72RoadrunnerGTX put up is what mine looks like right now, but will look like his regardless. If you look at the motors from NAPA, Autozone, etc they are black.
