Rear Quarter Cut question

Post by Serious Satellite » Tue Apr 08, 2008 12:52 pm

I found a darn nice right rear quarter for the Serious Satellite at a junkyard near Middletown, Ohio, and the guy quoted me a hundred bucks for the entire quarter should I cut it myself.

So, the question is this: has anyone done this AND if you have, do you have any recommendations before I go out with the disc saw or sabre saw and start hacking away?

I also found four dash pads from b bodies there, five bucks each, and a sun roof on a 73 roadrunner; and a nice b body bench seat for twenty bucks.

Also, my next project. A very fine 1972 Plymouth Fury with minimal rust and mostly intact. Black vinyl top over rallye red.

pics posted in the junkyard post soon as I can get them off of my cell phone.

I say cut more off than you think you need.
that way you dont get home and find out the patch isnt big enough.

I wish I could get one of them dash pads! I would trade it in for a core exchange for a new one from az-nick. 8)

It's why I'm collecting them. . .I could've harvested six a body dash pads, but left them.

I found only one 1970 Dodge Challenger out there, but its entire front clip was gone and the interior was gutted.

i just removed a rear qtr from a 74 r.r., i sold it with my car, but it isn't that hard, i used a sawzall, goes thru there like a hot knife thru butter, until you meet the fender reinforcements, like inner fender wells/trunk extenders, but you can still get thru them, just a little more time, also near the back trunk area above the light, it gets kinda hard here too, but like a previous guy said always take more than you think you will use...take plenty of long blades/cheiesels/ i couldn't use a grinder cause i didn't want to set the world on fire..good luck

I'm only goin after the right side quarter, the left quarter is pretty good, some surface rust that can be corrected. . .

I can't remember if the 74 Roadrunner's quarters were anygood. .. I was dumbstruck at seeing the sunroof. ..
