engine mounts??
Ok, I've gotten what appear to be the incorrect motor mounts twice now. The brackets look too short and have 4 holes. The brackets on my engine are longer and have only three mounting holes (plus the engine has only three ears each side). Are the parts stores smoking crack or does my engine have the wrong mounts? I'm pretty sure they're original to my 400.

You know what, maybe it has small block mounts on it,cuz someone probably tried putting the big block in a car using the small block mounts, figurd it would work but it didnt so they ditched the whole idea.i thought about doing that with my big block, but they arent the same.
take a picture of the mounts on you engine.we shall compare

My car's an original big block though. The parts that are welded to the frame are slotted. You just slide the long bolt through the bottom of the mount, leave it loose, then drop the engine down and the bolts fit right into the slots. I feel like I'm going crazy! The parts guys are telling me it takes a square mount. Grrrrr

Sounds like you have the correct spool mounts for 73' and up. I believe 72’ was last year for the block type mounts in the b-body’s

These guys are the only way to go. My friend Dean has a 73 SSP with a smallblock K-member. He used schumacher motor mounts to install a 440, and they worked great!
