And add to that Gionni built his American beast in Switzerland! Imagine trying to find parts for a 40-year-old European car here... and imagine how expensive it would be!

Interesting....no Dave, I don't remember seeing that one.Dave wrote:Now the one really interesting part that I have, and the only one like it I've ever found, is a turn signal housing that originally came with clear lens and still had the amber bulb in it, but instead of the normal silver reflector, had an amber tint to the reflector. I picked it up at a swap meet because it had a nice lens with it, and didn't think anything about it until I got home and pulled the lens off it to clean it up. Anybody else ever find one of these?
Eric, I think I've shown that part to you, haven't I?
All 71s I've owned so far have been built before March, and none of them have had an amber tinted reflector! I'll have to see that one some day.
It's amazing how many parts changed during the course of the 71 model year.
Other notable changes around the same time (late Jan-March):
big block HP valve covers went to the raised circles
glove box inserts changed to white
canopy vinyl roof made available on all 2drs (previously only available on rr and SSP)
front and rear rubber bumpers made available on all 2drs (previously only available on rr/GTX/SSP)
....I'm sure there are a few more I've forgotten at the moment
And then there are the early changes (Sept-Oct).....hard to keep up!
AKA Butterscotch71....the road runner nest is out to win you over this year!

my car was august 20 or 22 i believe in 1970 painted roof and black wheels with trim rings lol...i'd love to get it back to stock, but finding the 318/904, column shift, deluxe bench, etc. would be pretty difficult.......probably closer to impossible, but i'm keeping my eyes open so maybe when i'm older and have more money i can get it that way...

Another thing that changed was the harness connertor for the front park lights. 71 had round pin connector and 72 had flat spade connectors.Eric wrote:Interesting....no Dave, I don't remember seeing that one.Dave wrote:Now the one really interesting part that I have, and the only one like it I've ever found, is a turn signal housing that originally came with clear lens and still had the amber bulb in it, but instead of the normal silver reflector, had an amber tint to the reflector. Not sure when the change happened but all 72's that I've seen had flat spades.

On my 71 satellite they had screws and push tabs. When was the change over?
