Painting inner door frame interior color?

Post by billzilla » Thu Feb 21, 2008 8:09 pm

Do the metal inside halves of door frames need to be interior color? I notice mine are a light beige or 'gold' I guess, to go with the Light Gold interior.

Should I mask it off and paint it? If I do, I guess I have to strip it and do it properly?

Yes, that is absolutely correct, and the paint codes are found in the service manuals...it is a certain degree of gloss.

Well, it's going to go to black. It's a semi-gloss, then?

It's not quite that simple, but yes. Does anyone have the current correct paint code for the correct sheen of interior TX9?

Check out Dave's "Blue Bird" project journal, there's at least ONE good shot of the door frame paint. Not sure if his is the "right" sheen or not, but it sure looks better than what's on my old ragged out Runner. :D

Behind my door panel, there is a black strip of paint. I thought the black strip was to signify bucket seats. Maybe the drivers' door on my car has been replaced?

Yes, I did look at Project Blue Bird pix. The second most recent entry from Dave.

Had nothing to do with seats being bench or bucket. That paint strip corresponds with the paint code on the second line of the fender tag to the right of the interior code
