Having a problem with my 73 4 speed transmission. I'm no 4 speed guru. Shifts fine into 1st gear and then into 2nd just fine. Trying shift back into 1st gets stuck in 2nd. Only way to free it is taking the side cover off, move 2nd with a bar and start over. Guy helping me said that gear is moving to far forward and a (dog ?) locking it in. Had this transmission and a 72 rebuilt at the same time at the same shop and its doing the same thing.
Adjusted the rods a bunch.
Testing in a parking lot at low speeds.
Any ideas?

Was able to drive my car for the first time tonight. After 18 plus years of ownership, this is the first time I have ever driven it. Drove real good, straight down the road with good power. Couldn't be happier. All the time, money and set backs, disappointments, for me is worth it after that first drive.

Are you sure the colour is Spinnaker white?
It sure looks like the Alpine white I just had my car painted in.

I'm fairly certain its Spinnaker White, it's on the fender tag codes. Not home right now the check the codes. Either color looks great on these cars, at least I think so. Your car paint turned out great from the pictures you have posted.

EW1 was the same color from 1969 through at least 1980 - It was just given a different name depending on year range and make of vehicle. For Dodge vehicles from 1969-1971 it was called "White". Plymouth 1969-1970 "Alpine White". Chrysler cars 1969-1971 & Plymouth 1971 "Spinnaker White". For Dodge 1972 and up "Eggshell White". And for Chrysler/Plymouth 1972 and up "Spinnaker White". And to confuse things further GW3 was a brighter white in 1971 - Dodge "Bright White" and Plymouth "Sno White".

W3 was the paint code I told my painter to get.

Took my car out for about 150 mile drive. Ran great. Planning a 1200 mike drive next week.
Picked up a spare hood few months back. Can never have enough spare parts around.

Well I made it back home from my big shake down run in the Road Runner. Drove about 1400 miles in 6 days. Car ran great, averaged 11.33 MPG. Got alot more attention than I ever expected. A lot of comments about never seeing a 73 Road Runners and one being driven. Learned a couple things. The tires I have on the car are not good for long drives and its real hard to drive, shift and turn when drinking coffee , needs a cup holder of some kind. Did developed an oil leak, most likely the rear main seal, so I kept a close eye on oil level. Think I need to add a good mechanical oil pressure gauge, just don't trust the factory gauge.
Fun trip, grandkids love to ride in grandpa's old car.

Little update, my oil leak was the rear main seal. Engine builder didn't install correctly or put the high temp silicone in the groves. All correct now.
Looking to replace the 15" rallye wheels and tires for my long trips. Think 17 x 7 or 8 should fit, just can't decide which wheel to choose, leaning towards the old Crager style wheels. Open to suggestions on which wheel you guys think look best on our cars.
