I would ask what you want from the motor, and how you want it to look. All out performance, then the big name heads. More than factory performance with a stock look, then 440 source aluminum stealth heads that look factory on the outside.

I guess I would have to say that looks don't matter all that much it will be modified and non matching numbers so really y a nice 500 to 550 horse in a mostly street driven car with a standard shift and 4.11 gears

Do your homework before buying anything. I like Indy heads but the Edelbrocks also have good #'s. Any details on how the motor is going to be built?

I have a set of 440 source ones. As this is my first big block car, I can't really tell you if they're good, bad or indifferent. the car runs really strong, so i'm not displeased.

my specs:

1967 HP block, .030 over
.040 head gasket, pistons .010 in the block. (should be about 10.5:1 from hand calcs and online calculators)
stock forged crank
comp xe268H hydraulic cam
performer RPM intake
FAST EFI

this is very similar to a build mopar magazine did in about 2008? they put down 450hp and 510 lb ft with a Holley 3310 (750cfm).

If you go 440 Source, please change all the locks and retainers. The supplied parts are pure junk. One lock pulled clear through my #7 intake valve retainer a few weeks ago, causing one hell of a mess. Small hydraulic cam and happened at 6k RPM. Ruined head, ruined my '70 Bee's unstamped block that's been in the car since '71 too... The rebuild had 2k miles and the heads on ly 300 miles...

They even offer upgraded parts for a nominal fee. Boy, do I regret not going that route now.

I swapped the stock top end for Eddys RPM heads and intake. With about 4 k on them I'm pretty happy. 383, .030 over, .010 down and .040 gaskets give 9.3 and it runs very well on 89 octane. The old school 484 cam with 17degrees initial and 38 total. Never pings and still running the stock exhaust manifolds. Next is the TTI headers to get that 70 hp I figure I'm losing.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

That's another head that seems to get a lot of high marks from those who've used em

eddy rpm here, the only thing I should have bought were the headswith the straight plugs, I hear they are better if you run headers, 2 of the plugs are a a real pain in the a$$ to change with the headers I have now. The price difference between the two types of eddys I believe were less than $100
400 stroked to 470ci, 3:55 Eaton true trac, slightly upgraded suspension lol

Nice! What stroker kit did you use, 440 source?

I left that up to my engine builder. I have the "DNA" of the engine which included every part and number put in it and the dyno results. It made that torque early.

Nice I built the same motor, no dyno yet, I went with the muscle motors setup, there were a few pieces with the kit I could use as the tolerances were way off
