71 Roadrunners - REAL Graveyard Carz
About a year ago, I went to a place not too far from me to look at some cars. There were several 71-72 Plymouth B Bodies there and I posted pictures (Post: Mopar Graveyard). Some of you guys had wished I had gotten fender tag info on some of the cars. I went back today and bought a 71 Satellite. While I was out there I went back to those cars and tried to get you some more info...
The "Sassy Grass" green car (from the original pic below) is still there but there is no fender tag. I talked with the owner who said he bought it 20+ years ago from a kid. Engine was gone. It was originally a 383 3 speed car.
This is it today... Still the same. Still sad.
And the other one I think you guys wanted info on was the blue 71 Roadrunner (seen in the original picture below). This one actually does have the fender tag still... I took several pics because it is hard to read it all on one. Sometimes the different angle helps to see certain codes more clearly...
I apparently can't read all the codes right:
RM23:
Plymouth Belvedere,Satellite
Medium, Road Runner
2 Door Hardtop
N18: 383 300HP 1-4BBL 8 CYL

H41: Heater w/ Upper Level Vent
H42: Unknown
R11: Radio Solid State AM (2 Watts)
V21: Performance Hood Treatment
26: 26in Radiator
END: End of Sales Codes
It's a sad looking car too... Was probably a real beauty when she was new...
And here's the one I bought. A 71 Satellite. Has a built 440, 727, 8 3/4. The thing has no rust at all. None. The driver's side quarter panel had been smashed so the guy who owns all these cars had his body guy come out and install a new quarter panel on it. Looks like a solid project though. Wish it was a real RR but what ya gonna do? Still a cool 71 Plymouth B Body with a lot of potential. Guy threw in a RR hood so that ugly one is history. Picking it up next weekend.
Also snatched up a 1977 Ramcharger 4x4 for the wife. She's been wanting an International Scout but those things are terrible. She fell in love with the Ramcharger so we are going to do a soft top, a little lift, some wheels and tires, then I will shoot it satin black for her. It's a real nice truck. 318 and runs like a top. Sorry, forgot to take pics of it...
We got a good package deal on the 2 so it was a good weekend. The driveway will soon be overflowing with Mopars

Re: 71 Roadrunners - REAL Graveyard Carz
Either way nice project car. I like Sats and SSP's just as much as Runners and X's. They're all excellent cars. I towed my friends 74 challenger out to his new home and he was a bit down about it. I had to remind him he has an actual Challenger. Some people would give body parts to have one. Ok 318/3 speed stick, 3.23.....but we can make that puppy better than anything that came out of the factory and still look reasonably stock. Same with your project. Good luck with it.
4th generation B bodys- there is no substitute.

Yeah, it was hard to read off the pictures but I think you guys are right about those codes. Fixed them here and fixed the interior code as well.

All in all, that was a bad ass little RR. Maybe it will be saved one day...
And Thanks Road Chicken. I love all Plymouth B Bodies from 71-72 as well. It doesn't matter to me what it was ordered with unless it is still all original. If you are going to fix it up and change things, what's the real difference in any of them? I have a lot of love for the Satellites, Sebrings, and especially the Plus'.

GB7: Dark Blue Poly Int. Door Frames ?
dark blue door frames
who writes this stuff
when its says GB7 it means the lower door panels are dark blue and head liner and carpet and the dash pad, steer column, dash, are all dark blue.

Re: 71 Roadrunners - REAL Graveyard Carz
I just plug it into the fender tag decoder thing and C&P what it says.
I guess it would sound better if they wrote: GB7: Dark Blue Poly Int. *AND* Door Frames
If the interior color is different than the color of the car, they did paint the door frames the interior color as far as I've ever seen. Had a brown one with black interior and the interior of the door actually were painted black so it's actually a fairly accurate description.
And 71RunnerM51- That's pretty cool!
