Still alive...

Post by steved » Mon Apr 01, 2013 8:36 am

Hey all,

Been a long time. Life and important stuff got in the way of having my car done a long time ago (from my side, and the shop's side)...the fleet grew a bit in my absence, and includes a BMW M Roadster, and a 1971 Datsun 240Z.

Anyways, I hope to be a little more regular around here. I'll post some new pics of my GY9 GTX soon (there's a rumor it might finally get painted)

Haha! I know how that goes! On my 7th year of my 4 year project. If I was a bachelor, it would be done by now. Good Luck! Scott.

well...this is as far as they got...a falling out between the shop guy and the painter has left the GTX stranded again...

I'm taking my car home, and am going to try to get my money back...

That's a bummer Steve. I hope you can find another painter - there's gotta be someone close that can get the job done. Scott.

update:

got my bumpers powdercoated chrome with a clear topcoat, and they look kinda like the satin aluminum finish from a late '60s factory drag car. I really like them, and they're not perfect, but they're way better than the rusty chrome they were.

Image

The car is at a new painter who would finish the job for a couple grand. The new guy said it was soooooo close. he sends me regular updates....i'm happy.

I'm super excited, it finally seems like it's coming together.

My money is gone from the first painter, but I'm getting a '68 fury III convertible out of it as my "refund". something is better than nothing....I guess.

Hey, a Fury III Vert is a nice ride. You might have to check out C-body dry dock if you don't decide to flip it for cash. Scott.

I found "for c bodies only" I"ll have to check out CBDD too...

it's a cool ride...so much so that my BMW M roadster is on the chopping block (so I can save the monthly payment)...and because I found pics like this...

Yup, nicely done C-bodies tend to attract a lot of attention because you just don't see many around. Sometime in the distant future I plan on having a 1969 Polara 2Dr Hardtop in my stable, unless a 70/71 Sport Fury GT falls in my lap. Scott.
