Calling all 1973-74 sunroof owners

There have been a few sunroof owners on the nest that have inquired about sunroof production numbers for 73-74 Plymouth B bodies. Jeff and I have been collecting info on 1969 through 1972 Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth sunroof cars. But I would like to start collecting info on 1973 and 1974 sunroof cars also.
For 69-72 sunroof production numbers, I am fairly certain that the number of sunroof cars produced is closely tied to the VON on many makes and models - 1971 cars being an exception. When it comes to the 73-74 sunroof cars, unfortunately the VON does not have any special meaning (usually) - and therefore an estimate of production cannot be deduced from the VON. So until I find good documentation on these cars, I can only give a very rough estimation of production.
For those that would like to participate, I am setting up a 73-74 Plymouth B-body registry. Info can be found at this Nest link:

Thanks, Scott.

Thanks Mr70Mopar - do you know if he has posted anything online about his cars? Are they mostly project/parts cars or are they drivers?
I am currently working on 70-72 E-body sunroof cars. When I am done with them, I plan to start working on the 73-74 Satellite/RR/Charger sunroof cars - probably sometime this Fall. Production numbers are going to be tricky - starting in 73 the VON for sunroof B-bodies is no longer tied to the VIN sequence like earlier years. Still, there are some avenues I have yet to explore that may yield some information.
Scott.

I just purchased a 1973 Road Runner today with the factory sunroof option. It was a 340, 4-speed car with Silver Frost paint and black stripes. Car was built 10-1972. Galen's book says that 414 Runners were built that year with the factory roof. Mine is missing pieces, including the interior panel.

Hey Ron,
A 340 4spd is a pretty nice setup in a 73 runner! What condition is your car in - project/driver? Post up some pics when you get a chance. We are kinda picture-centric here on the nest.
Scott.

PROJECT! Car came with 71 340 block, steel crank, dimple rods and 12to1 pistons, all loose. It did come with a numbers matching 4-speed though. Not too bad rust wise for year, I want to make it a driver anyway. Lots of other projects accumulated over the years need to go as a result of this purchase, I just was not as into them as RR's. Pictures maybe at a later date.

Chad,
Sounds like a neat ride - and a big block to boot. Post up some pics when you get a chance - we love them here on the nest. Is that a Q in your VON?? or a mis-type.
Scott.

Once the snow melts a little bit here i will get some pictures up and yes a Q in the VON i was surprised at this what ive seen either public relations car or executive or lease car but im not sure on either one. also another thing that interested me i looked through old sheets online of possible ways to order the car, and it says that the car was only available with console floor shifter and mine is a bucket with buddy seat and on the column .

Good day all. I have a 1974 RR 400 with Sunroof. The Sunroof mechanism slides just fine, it just drops a little in the back when fully closed. Any help on this?

I have a digital copy of the Technical Service Bulletin for the 1971 Power Sunroofs that shows how to adjust all the different pieces and parts. The 73-74 Manual sunroofs are very similar to the power ones when it comes to the servicing and adjustments. It will give you a good idea on how to adjust that back piece to make the panel come up a bit more. Its too large of a file to post here - so shoot me an email at scott DOT rudge AT gmail DOT com. Oh - and a pic or two of your car in this thread would be super! Thanks, Scott.
