Introducing myself and my car

Post by wejewill » Mon Feb 11, 2013 8:37 pm

Hi, I'm Jeff, and this is my '72 Road Runner.CY8 Gold Leaf Polly (not this hideous non original brown color) 400 C.I., D13 three speed tranny, 14 inch road wheels. Here are a few pictures of what I started with. When the seller was bringing the car to me, the bird broke down and a tow truck had to deliver her (probably an omen!). ImageHere's the interior as delivered. ImageHere is the engine bay too! Image
I am just getting the hang of this and will continue posting pics.

Jeff That is a great find. I love color and that 72 RR grill is the best. Good luck and keep sending out those pics. David

Cool! Another GY8 car on the nest! Are you going to go back to the original color with your Runner? Do you plan on making any modifications, or are you going to keep it fairly stock? Have fun with your ride! Scott.

Everyone replying,
I am currently in the process of returning my GY8 back to its original form. When I bought it the owner installed a mild cam in it, put an Edlebrock manifold and carb. I do still have the original parts though. My RR has the 71 grill on it. That is one of my questions, the gentleman I bought it from stated that the 71 grill was on my car when it was purchased by the original owner. He did not have any pictures proving this claim. Is there a way to verify his claim?
Thanks for help,
Jeff

Sorry Jeff,
It is highly unlikely that your 72 Runner came with a 71 grill. I think that the original owner fibbed a little to the second owner, or the second owner was telling you a little story. Regardless, these cars look good with either grill. The 72 grill does look really good, but they are a spendy unit to obtain - no reproductions. Good luck with your resto! Scott.

Well it is what it is as far as the grill, it does look good either way. I do love the GY8 color and cannot wait to see it my car again. I just looked up the Dupont Centari is there a PPG comparable?

Contining story. This is my inspiration for why I love RR. These are images of my first experience with the Road Runner bug. It is a 1972 RR with a 400 and auto tranny. These are the only pics I have of this car it was a beauty. That is my mom, stepfather and brother. I guess I was the one taking the pictures? Image
