Thanks. You can use the "Upload Attachment" tab just below the reply text window. If that's not working out, I can send you my yahoo address via private mail.

I could understand not allowing reproduction VIN tag, but not fender tag. Moot point for now, Galen not taking orders. Full service machine shop where I work. If I really want to counterfeit a tag, might not be a big problem.

ag backeast makes the tags but most all people would rather see no tag than a speculative reproduction, and thats what you have with no build sheet. with a build sheet who needs a tag to prove it. my 2cents.

I'm sure that I've said this before, but I don't think there's any harm in putting only the stuff you're sure about on the made up tag, fill in the blanks with "unknown" or XXX,or leave it blank. If you're only lacking the scheduled build date and order number, we're only talking about a portion of one line on the fender tag!
This does two good things:
1. Makes the engine compartment look more complete.

2. Doesn't fool anyone into thinking it's legit.

All of our cars have clues as to how they were built, some more than others.
Even a stripped shell will tell us a few things.
Did it have factory air?
Manual or auto. floor tunnel?
If auto, floor or column shift?
Buckets or bench seat?
22" or 26" radiator?
Torque boxes on frame rails?
Factory dual exhaust?

I'm sure some of us with more experience can think of even more.

I know you wanted a picture of a fender tag. Here is a GTX on ebay with a fender tag pic.

Thanks. The paint on that tag almost looks like Moulin Rouge.

And here I thought I killed this thread when I posted that 'cuda pic. The guy I bought that car from thinks I'm nuts for wanting a '71-72 Plymouth B.

Now that I'm finally fully awake -- pretty hard to recreate a fender tag without the "order number". Might be possible to establish the build date from dates on other tags with close sequence numbers, but the order number is lost unless found on a broadcast.

Yeah, you can't guess an order number, I'd leave that "unknown"

You might get close on the build date by dating other components, or looking at others fender tags for cars from the same plant with VINs close to yours(don't forget Dodges)If you just got the month you could leave the day "unknown".

As always, your car, your$,your call.

If you aren't able to find a broadcast to restore to original, your GK6 car would look sweet with a white pinstripe.

Just for the record, that was not meant to be a slam on SSPs. I would have been just as happy with an SSP - maybe even happier at about half the price. Plenty of money left for engine mods, etc.

It wasn't taken that way, just funny because you usually see the comment to make into a Runner or GTX clone. That just hit my funny bone.

If you really want a tag in there to make the engine bay look more complete, then maybe you could do something like this. Make it plainly obvious that its not the original tag. You can probably figure out what month it was made just tracking a few VINs here and there, so use the three letter abbreviation for the month instead of the normal SPD. You will never know the VON, so just put REPROD or CUSTOM in that spot. Then just don't claim any special equipment in the option codes like air grabber hood or bright exhaust tips etc etc. Just the bare minimum standard options that usually come on a GTX. Maybe even stamp in small letters across the top "Custom Tag". If a buyer down the line can't figure out its not a real tag, then they haven't done their homework - and its not like you are trying to pass off a Satellite coupe for a GTX - It is a GTX baby!

Just my 2c.

Oh yah - just pretend this Autumn Bronze tag was repainted GB7. :D
